Pictures

Arrival

Well, I finally made it to Japan today. The flight was long and exhausting. They handed out moist hot towels to wash hands with before meals and served a variety of things including noodles and caesar salad. I watched four movies back to back and got no sleep at all. They told the weather but I could not understand them and was only amused by the large drumsticks that they pointed at the map with. Eventually, we arrived at the Narita International Airport in Tokyo and I was able to exchange my money to yen, use the bathroom (which was an ordeal because all my luggage would not fit into the bathroom stall but I insisted on having it in the bathroom stall with me so I got into quite the power struggle), and buy a bus ticket to Mito. I spoke briefly with a girl who was at the bus stop with me to ensure that I was getting on the correct bus. The bus ride was two hours long and I was able to take some pictures along the way. I finally got off at the bus station and hauled my luggage up escalators, down escalators, and a few blocks to the hotel, which had the smallest hotel room I have ever seen. Not only was it small, but the only working light in the room was the entrance overhead light (about two inches in diameter). It's safe to say that I am glad they provided an emergency flashlight on the bedpost because I wouldn't have been able to clean up the disaster that was my hygiene bag due to the spillage of soap and cologne mingled together. Needless to say it was an interesting trip and I am finally glad to have a bed next to me and some time for sleep. Work phoned me first thing to let me know that I would be training at 9:00am in the morning.
