One Week in Tokyo, part 2

While Will and his friends were still in Kyoto, Tyler and I spent our last night in the hostel located in Asakusabashi and checked out the next morning at 11:00am. I saw a brochure that advertised a free observatory in the Japanese Metropolitan Government building, located in Shinjuku, the skyscraper district. Since this was the same place that our next hotel was located, we decided to head that way and try to find the observatory to kill some time until Will and his friends returned from Kyoto around midday.
After a long, hot, and sweaty search for the building, we found it.

Views from the 65th floor observatory of the Government building.
The view from here was amazing. Being up there really made you realize how vast Tokyo really is and the pictures don't really do it justice.
Next, we received mail from Will that his friends had returned to Tokyo and were at the hotel. Our next hotel was the Keio Plaza Hotel, located in the middle of Shinjuku, with a direct view of the Japanese Metropolitan Government building, as well as the Park Hyatt, where Lost in Translation was filmed.

This was our hotel room on the 25th floor.

We arrived just in time to rest, shower, and watch the sun set over the city.
We had a great time staying at this hotel and I took advantage of their fitness facility. We went out to have some sushi at a Kaitan sushi place and it was pretty delicious.
After spending two days here enjoying Tokyo, we said goodbye to the comfortable room and also said goodbye to Will's friends, who had a blast visiting Tokyo for a week.

After we checked out and said goodbye to Will's friends, they headed towards the airport. Then Tyler and I said goodbye to Will, who was headed to the station in Ueno to board the shinkansen back home. I have to admit that at this point I was tired and jealous of Will getting to go back home. But I still had one more adventure ahead of me and my bus to Mt. Fuji didn't leave until 4:45pm. Tyler and I killed some time at Starbucks and then found a mexican restaurant across the way in Shinjuku. It was the closest thing to real mexican food that I have had since I have been in Japan and it was absolutely delicious.

Waiting for the bus to Mt. Fuji.
